Miami & the Caribbean Sea, aboard MSC Divina- Moody Blues Cruise 2014 "Return to the Isle of Wight”
2 April 2014 – 7 April 2014 aboard MSC Divina sailing from Miami - Grand Turk Island - Nassau - Miami.
A bespoke Audio Visual Production titled "A Photographer's Dream Gig" was prepared and presented by the Cameron Life team for all who sailed with the Moody Blues on their "Return to the Isle of Wight" cruise. The Moody Blues and their special guest Roger Daltrey were joined by fellow alumni from the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival including Carl Palmer of ELP, Paul Hoffert and Ralph Cole of Lighthouse, plus Shawn Phillips.
"A Photographer's Dream Gig" told the story of the 1970 festival through the photography of Charles Everest to a sound track including some live recordings from the festival and especially featured the Moody Blues, The Who and fellow alumni present on the cruise. The production was shown regularly on the ship's giant video walls as well as on its TV network throughout the cruise. Cameron Life also gave a Q&A session on Charles' photography.
Justin, John and Graeme reminsced and commented on Charles' photographs of the Moodies during their Storey Tellers session onboard, as well as including many of his photographs to entertain the audiences throughout their 2014 US Tour.

Guy Portelli's "Heart Throb" at Taunton's Creative Innovation Centre, Paul Street, TA1 3PF
31 October 2013 – 28 November 2013 9 am – 12 midday Monday to Friday and by appointment. Guy Portelli's iconic sculptures will be supported by photography by Charles Everest and paintings by Chris Myers RI RBA on the pop icon theme.
Guy Portelli took his Pop Icon project to the BBC TV Dragons’ Den in a bid to raise the money and profile of a collection he had been working on for 34 years. The project captured the imagination of the ‘Dragons’ as well as the viewers. Guy Portelli said, “I walked away with the support of three Dragons and more money than I originally asked for, which was really helpful.”
The artist’s project grew in concept and ambition, and became the biggest exhibition on the theme of the Pop Icon ever staged in the UK. Guy is now bringing a selection of his sculptures to CICCIC for probably the most exciting show ever staged in Taunton.
Come along and meet pop icons such as John Lennon, Elton John, The Who, Jimmy Hendrix, The Spice Girls, Led Zeppelin and more.
Amongst the thirteen of Charles Everest's stunning Limited Edition Giclee Prints for sale, are three large ones (image size ~3ft x 2ft) of Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison. Also represented are Roger Daltrey, Keith Moon, The Who, Paul Rodgers, Free, Donovan, Frankie Miller, Nik Turner, Hawkwind and The Pink Fairies.
New Festival Time-Line at Dimbola Lodge, Freshwater, Isle of Wight from Sept 2013
As a part of Dimbola's revamp of its permanent Festivals Exhibition. We designed and installed a photo-montage (over ten metres in length ) of Charles' 1970 Isle of Wight Festival photographs creating a time-line frieze which includes photos capturing the majority of the artists' performances during the festival. The refreshed Festival Room was officially re-launched by Radio DJ and presenter Andy Peebles on Friday 4th October 2013. In addition, amongst the other photos/ posters and memorabilia on permanent display there are three framed prints from Charles' festival archive.
CameronLife Festival Experience at Swansea Museum, Sept-Dec 2011
"The IOW Music Festival exhibition brought a new and enthusiastic audience into Swansea Museum, following on from and re-inforcing the success of other rock related exhibitions. It was an evocative look back at an iconic time in music. Its success with us was undoubted, and certainly ranked as one of the leading attractions in our programme of innovative displays" said Roger Gale, Exhibitions & Events Officer of Swansea Museum.
Nik Turner (formerly of Hawkwind) opened the exhibition
40th Anniversary Exhibition at Dimbola Lodge Freshwater Isle of Wight, Jun-Sept 2010
"I attest that the exhibition of Charles Everest's extraordinary colour images - which make forty years ago seem the merest blink of an eye - was a huge pleasure, and that the presentation of these images was superb. The whole Everest family very helpful and willing to engage in press promotions, and the shock of visiting celebrities (Melanie among them) they took in their stride. In particular Charles' own gracefulness and friendly attention to each and every one of those he talked to was remarked on by many of our local press and media people, he was always willing, as an old press hand himself, to go that extra mile. In addiiton, the actual marketing and sales of prints was handled very smoothly by his sons.
An experience and show that I would be delighted to repeat at Dimbola in times to come. In addition, we had a very good result in terms of sales through our shop of both the prints and the catalogue - among the best ever - and a very positive visitor reaction ,as recorded in our comments book, and as verbally conveyed to our volunteers on the desk and to me as Chairman. The only event I can compare it to was the visit of Brian May to give a talk and then sign copies of his Victorian stereascopic slide show book. Another hugely charming man, by the way".
Dr Brian HInton MBE, Executive Chairman of Dimbola, and the then head of its Exhibitions Committee.
Pilot Exhibition at Clock Tower Gallery, Sheffield, Feb-Mar 2010
We first embarked on our Festival Experience exhibitions by staging a pilot event at the Clock Tower Gallery in Sheffield early in 2010. This proved to be a resounding success and was a preliminary to the keenly awaited 40th Anniversary Exhibition to commemorate and celebrate the 1970 Isle of Wight Music Festival, which was staged later in the year at the Julia Margaret Cameron Trust's Photographic Museum, Dimbola Lodge, Freshwater on the Isle of Wight.
After contributing many of the images illustrating Brian's book "Message to Love", Charles had had a standing invitation over many years from author, music historian and poet Dr Brian Hinton MBE of the Julia Margaret Cameron Trust, to hold a public exhibition of his photgraphs documenting the Festival. Finally in 2009 Charles was pursuaded to allow us (his family) to "blow the dust off" the archive of his 35mm colour transparencies from the festival in order to make preparations for "The CameronLife Festival Experience".
We decided that it would be fitting to invite a celebrity from the original 1970 Isle of Wight Festival to open each of our exhibitions. Two years on and two major exhibitions later, we have been fortunate that two such festival stalwarts, Peter Daltrey and Nik Turner, have been delighted to launch our exhibitions. We look forward to the possibility of working with them and others on future projects and exhibitions.
Our aim within the Cameronlife team is to continually improve the experience offered to our visitors both on our website and at our exhibitions. Already we have increased the the number of framed prints displayed at our exhibitions from around 60 images to over 100 (subject to available wall space at venues!),and introduced an audio visual presentation which takes the viewer back to the era and includes additional images relating to the festival (see part 1 at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PE56pzZQGX8&feature=share. & part 2 at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWkZl579hC0&feature=share )
We have been proud to have incorporated into the exhibition, other works of art from accomplished artists like sculptor Guy Portelli, which both interact with and complement Charles' photography. We also try to include some items of festival memorabelia relevant to the event and welcome collaboration and involvement with the local music community and businesses.
If you have a suitable venue in mind or would like to sponsor an exhibition and would like to discuss the possibility of bringing the "CameronLife Festival Experience" to your home town then please contact Neil Everest.
